Top 3 Finalists Announced in Writing Contest

We're proud to announce the top three finalists in our latest short story writing contest.

Kimberly Gemme won the top spot with her story, "The Wait, The Date, and the Single Girl's Fate."

Dan Sullivan came in second with "The Boy Who Walked on Water."

Gillian Hamer rounded out the top three with her "No Library Card."

Congratulations to these authors and the other eleven finalists in the contest. Their stories will be featured in our 2006 contest anthology, MIND TRIPS UNLIMITED:

Writing Contest Deadline Extended

Due to requests, we've decided to extend the deadline of our 9th Annual Short Story Writing Contest . You now have until August 31, 2011 to get your entry in for contest consideration! We publish the top 10-15 stories from the contest in an annual anthology (try saying that five time fast) and the top 2-3 stories receive a monetary reward on top of that! Most of our contest winners are new, unknown authors seeking a little publicity and exposure. So, grab that story that you've worked on, and worked on, and worked on and submit it for the contest. We give every story every consideration. We'd love to see what you've been working on!

10th Annual Writing Contest

For the tenth annual Scribes Valley Short Story Writing Contest, we are looking for stories that enthrall us, leave us breathless, make us say “Wow!” and stay in our minds even weeks after we read them. You've worked hard on your story, studied every word, developed characters so real you know them personally, and created a setting which pulls readers out of the real world.
