Short Story Contest Deadline Approaching

Hi, everyone. I'm determined to start blogging here much more frequently that I have been doing. I’m also blogging over at WORLD WORD BANTER along with fellow author and publisher Carolyn Ann Aish of New Zealand, and together we’re covering the world from opposite sides!

We have a lot of fun over there at WORLD WORD BANTER. We do a lot of ribbing and taking cheap shots at each other, but we also manage to impart some valuable writing and publishing advice as we go.

One piece of advice I can give now is, if you have a short story that you would like to expose to the world, why not give our short story writing contest a try? You’ve worked hard on a story and you’ve gotten to know it very well, almost like it’s a member of the family. It’s screaming from your computer, a stack of papers on your desk, your briefcase—wherever—to allow it to be seen. To let someone else besides close friends, other family members, or your pet dog or cat read it!

Our 2008 contest will run through July 31, 2008. We’d love to see what you’ve been writing. So come on over and give the contest a shot.

We also have a weekly online contest just for fun called the U-Write-It Challenge, where we give you the first sentence of a story, you give us the middle and end in less than 150 words. People from all over the world (literally) have participated in the U-Write-It Challenge and have found it to be not only a challenge, but a lot of fun.

We’ll see you on the Scribes Valley Publishing website. The Valley is always open!
